On March 10, at 11:30pm, Azerbaijan made a penetration attempt in the southeast of the Karabakh positions. The frontline units of the NKR Defense Army detected the Azerbaijani raiders timely and threw them back.
Two Azerbaijani raiders were killed and several were wounded during the incident. The NKR Defense Army told ArmInfo, the Armenian side suffered no losses. In addition, the adversary intensively shelled the Karabakh positions overnight, firing more than 5500 shots from weapons of various calibers, including 60mm mortars (170 shells), 82mm mortars (47 shells), RPG-7 grenade launchers (4 shells) and AGS-17 grenade launchers (4 shells).
"The Azerbaijani forces used howitzers too. The adversary used artillery against the Armenian positions in the direction of Akna (Aghdam) and the territory far from the Contact Line. This was an unprecedented situation since the ceasefire agreement made in May 1994. Consequently, it appears that the adversary seeks to destabilize the situation in the conflict zone, which may have unpredictable consequences," the NKR Defense Army says in a statement.
